American Telugu Association (ATA) in collaboration with Indian Community Of Nashville (ICON) has been celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) for the last 3 Years in Nashville, TN. This is a Women only event organized by Women’s Committee lead by Radhika Reddy. This year’s IWD event is going to be celebrated on Saturday, March 9th.
As part of this year’s IWD event, Women’s committee initiated a community service of a FREE self-defense class for Women was organized on Saturday, February 9th at Masters Martial Arts Academy located in Nolensville, TN.
The self defense seminar and techniques, to handle incidents such as Purse snatching, Chain snatching and attacks on women, is taught by a member of Women’s committee, Rachana Agarwal. Rachana is a third-degree black-belt in Tae Kwon Do. She has been practicing Tae Kwon Do since 2008. More than 25 women have availed this opportunity and learned the self-defense techniques.
ATA team members have participated and also supported the event. ATA would like to thank Rachana Agarwal, Geeta Basutkar and Masters Martial Arts Academy and many other women’s committee members for supporting this great community service initiative.
