Indian Ballet Theater presented an electrifying Kuchipudi Dance performance on June 2, 2017 @India Cultural Center and Temple during Kumbhabhishekam 2017 - Dwiteeya Jeernodharana Maha Prathista. Choreography and direction was by Gurus Dr. Ramana and Smt. Chandra Prabha Vasili. Dancers Nidhi Niharika Chennam & Vaishnavi Pilli gave stunning performance and Annamacharya Keertana Muddugare Yashoda stood out. Both kids are 6 and 7 years old but eloquently performed with good expressions.
Yogita Manasa Dintakurthi performed Koluvaitiva Ranga sai a song by Devulapalli Krishna Sastri. Yogita performed nice foot work and presented glory of Lord Ranga Sai. Sreeja Surisetti, Shailika Pagadala and Parnika Pagadala performed Kuchipudi traditional dance song Ramayana Sabdam and along with Yogitha Manasa another Kuchipud Dance song Thillana. Both the songs were not only rich with foot work but also medious Mohana and Hindiolana rags impressed audience largely. The evening performance was started with Poorvarangam an invocational song on Lord Siva (Nataraja-king of dance) and Siddhendra Yogi (creator of Kucipudi Dance) by Rashmitha Bayyana, Meghana Balabhadruni, Sahasra Sasipalli and Rithika Pagala. Other kids Saanvi Kuntamalla, Sahasra Thota, Eesha Surisetti, Naidhrua Menothuparambill, Ashwika Bandaru, Shanthi Bellapu and Asmita Boddu performed several other traditional Kuchipudi songs, Annamcharya keertanas such as Kulukaka Naduvaro, Kolanidopariki Gobbillo and Ramadasu Keertanas such as Edigo Bhadradri Gowtami, Entho Ruchira. Gurus and dance couple Chandra Prabha and Dr. Ramana Vasili’s performance of Anandatandavamade Sivudu was a blast. Hundreds of devotees and dance lovers very much impressed with Smt. Chandra Prabha’s Satwikabhinayam (expressions) and Sri Ramana’s Angikabhinayam. The couple perfectly enacted the roles of Lord Siva and Sakthi and presented with precision the Anandatandavam. Definitely, it’s the highlight and received most applauds from the audience. Last but not least, the whole group of 19 dancers performed Annamacharya’s Adivo Alladivo Sri Harivasamu. Gurus choreographed dance so well, it presented Vaikuntha before the eyes.
Dr. Prasad S. Duggirala presented mementos to Dr. Ramana and Smt. Chandra Prabha Vasili and his grand children presented silver coins to the dancers.
Dr. Ramana Vasili thanked ICCT Administrators and Board of trustees for the wonderful opportunity. Spiritual Foundation’s Chairman Smt. Pavani Bayyana introduced the artists to the audience.
