Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will stage dharma porata Deeksha at AP Bhavan in New Delhi on February 11 seeking special category status to state and fulfilment of state bifurcation assurances. The Chief Minister will observe fast from 8 a.m Feb 11 and submit a memorandum to President of India on February 12.
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to mention about long pending demand of Andhra People on according special category status to AP and fulfilment of state bifurcation assurances during his visit to Guntur today, people expressed ire over the Modi govt in a big way. Thousands of people thronged on main roads of both Vijayawada and Guntur right from airport and staged protests sporting black dresses and empty black pots. It is said some BJP leaders who are expecting several sops to the state during the visit of Narendra Modi are said to be disappointed as the Prime Minister failed to mention the state bifurcation demands including long pending demand of Visakhapatnam railway zone. Reacting on the Modi’s scathing attack on Chief Minister, the Chief Minister said the BJP leaders should understand the ire of people towards central govt, which failed to fulfil state bifurcation assurances. The chief Minister said as per his appeal the Telugu people staged silent protests during the visit of Prime Minister Modi. The CM ruled out the allegations of BJP leaders that the TDP govt tried to create hurdles for the BJP meeting.
It may be noted that the Chief Minister participated in Dharma Porata Deeksha in 11 districts of AP so far and going to stage the 12th Dharma porata Deeksha in Delhi tomorrow (Feb 11). The CM will observe fast after paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi statue at Raj Ghat and Ambedkar statue at AP Bhavan. Leaders of several opposition parties including non BJP parties are going to extend their solidarity to the CM’s protest at Delhi. The Chief Minister also staged indefinite fast at AP Bhavan during October 2013 demanding equal Justice to both regions. The CM was forcibly shifted to Rammanohar Lohia hospital on the fifth day on the pretext of deterioration of health. He observed fast on his birth day last year in Vijayawada demanding fulfilment of state bifurcation assurances.
