Many Technologies have a basis in Mathematics.  Maths is the basis for new technologies:

Today there is a technology in maths and maths in technology: Mrs. Nivedita Thota.

SIP Academy aims to have 1500 centres from 900 in the next three years: Sibi Shekhar, Director, SIP Academy

How about singing, dancing to high decibels, loud background music and writing exams?

Sounds amazing.  But this happened in Hyderabad on Sunday.  SIP Academy conducted a ‘Concentration Roud” as part of Prodigy 24, to test the concentration of 2100, 6 to 12-year-old kids who participated in the mental arithmetic contest.  The Prodigy 24 was conducted at Classic Convention Three at Shamshabad this weekend.

Prodigy 24 was the 21st edition of Signature Event of SIP Academy, India’s biggest skill development organisation for kids.   2100 students from 60 centres spread across Telangana competed in the unique contest. Kids were supposed to solve 200 sums in 11 minutes in depending on different levels (nine plus three levels). Most  kids were like human computers and were calculating sums faster than calculators.

The participants were supposed to do three rounds depending on different levels of learning.  One round was with an abacus, which was mostly for beginners, the second level was the “visual round” where they were supposed to visualise in the air and do mental arithmetic. This was meant for higher-level students.   The third round was interesting for which all the kids were waiting.  It was the ‘concentration roun’. Where kids had to do sums to loud music without getting disturbed.  This was the test to check their concentration levels.

The kids were singing, dancing and calculating sums visually and enjoying themselves.  The entire hall full of 4 thousand people, two thousand kids, 300 plus invigilators, teachers, volunteers and parents turned into a musical concert.  What was appreciable was students' focus didn’t shift. Though we were singing and dancing but also minding their work-writing exam.

A senior functionary of SIP Academy said it was done largely to prove that in our Abacus training program, children will develop concentration among many other things and can concentrate in any environment.

SIP Academy is India’s biggest Skill Development organisation, SIP Academy, which has a presence across 23 states, and 900 centres in India and has trained 10 lakh children in the past 21 years and it has a global presence in 12 countries across the globe.

Addressing the students, Ms. Nivedita Thota, the chief guest said “I see human computers working here”.  You are the future.  There is no world without numbers.  Take any latest technology, be it Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Quantum Computing, all start with Maths.  Mathematics is regarded as the queen of all Sciences.  Today there is technology in maths and maths in technology.  You all are starting strong with Maths.  It will give you a lot of confidence to face the world. You all seem to be enjoying maths.  You seemed to have a lot of fun participating in the contest.  You are having a stress-free competition. That is what the National Education Policy also suggests.  You are our future.

The guest of honour Paanchali Dasgupta-Sahu unfolded the Ribbon of question paper bundle.   I am amazed to see the speed at which you are all doing additions, subtractions, and multiplications. The contest is a wonderful opportunity for the kids to develop the confidence to face competition in future.

Sibi Shekhar, Director of SIP Academy said prodigy means extraordinary.  Normally we just have a handful of prodigies, but here everyone is a prodigy. It is a prestigious competition.  It has many dimensions. Participation gives confidence and develops a competitive spirit not with others but with the self.  It also develops concentration.  It teaches the important lesson of practicing.  Practice, practice and practice make anyone perfect. It also teaches us to handle failures.  Winning and losing is part of life.  Parents must encourage kids to lose and win with the same spirit.

Speaking about their expansion Sibi Shekhar said SIP Academy aims to have 1500 centers from 900 in the next three years.

SIP Academy which runs world-class skill development programs has been making a significant impact on the mental potential of children. It is also known widely for creating child prodigies with razor-sharp intellects. It holds 5 Limca Book of Records.
