Sri City Police Organise Workers' Awareness Programme

The Sri City Police Department held an awareness programme on Monday evening at Vermeiren India Rehab Pvt. Ltd., to educate workers on various issues including cybercrime, road accidents, women’s safety, and crime prevention. The initiative aimed to empower workers with the knowledge and precautions necessary to protect themselves from common threats.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, G.V.S. Paideswara Rao, and Circle Inspector, B.V. Srinivasulu, highlighted the increasing tactics of cybercriminals, who exploit people through fraudulent job offers, loans, and lottery schemes, often targeting them through phone calls and social media. Workers were urged to remain cautious, avoid responding to messages or links from unknown sources, and immediately report suspicious activities to the police.

In addition, the police stressed the importance of road safety, particularly for two-wheeler riders. Wearing helmets, avoiding triple riding, refraining from using mobile phones while driving, and not consuming alcohol were emphasised as essential practices to prevent accidents. Violators of traffic rules, especially speeding, were warned of fines and legal action.

The safety of women workers was another focal point of the session. Police officials discussed precautions that women should take while commuting to and from industries, especially at bus stops and while waiting for vehicles. Awareness was raised about the dangers of chain snatching and the importance of reporting any form of sexual harassment at workplaces. Workers were encouraged to immediately contact the police through emergency numbers 100, 112, or 1090 if they face any such issues.

The police also advised management of the industrial units to install CCTV cameras and implement additional safety measures to ensure a secure environment for female employees. They further called on workers to report any illegal activities, including drug use, cockfighting, and gambling, to help maintain peace and security in Sri City region.

The programme saw participation from Sri City Sub Inspector of Police Hariprasad, Sri City Security Chief Y. Ramesh, and Human Resource Department Managers of Vermeiren Industry. Acknowledging the significant support from Sri City MD Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, the Deputy Superintendent of Police praised the Sri City Security force for their crucial role in maintaining Sri City’s reputation as a peaceful industrial hub.
