All set for the World Economic Forum’s 47th Meeting

Chief Minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu and delegation will leave for Zurich in the early hours of 16th, January.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu accompanied by a state delegation will visit Zurich, Davos-Klosters, Switzerland from January 16th to 21st to participate in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum upon the invitation he received from the WEF on the 31st of October last year. The invitation was sent by Mr. Philipp Rosler, Member of the Managing Board, World Economic Forum.

This is the 3rd consecutive time Shri .N. Chandrababu Naidu is receiving a special invitation after he took charge as the Chief Minister of the bifurcated Andhra Pradesh. 

The Chief Minister has a longstanding relationship with the WEF and year after year, he had been participating in its meetings as the Chief Minister of the united state of Andhra Pradesh and also as its leader of opposition.

The Chief Minister and the delegation will leave for Zurich from Delhi in the intervening night of 15th and 16th (2.05 Am) from Delhi.

In recognition of the prevailing discontent in societies which are not experiencing growth and development, the Forum has chosen to focus on ‘Responsive and Responsible Leadership’ in its 2017 deliberations to   highlight deeper commitment needed for an inclusive and sustainable growth. The meeting aims at making the world leaders credible and responsible to the societal and global concerns which have been neglected for a long time.

The Chief Minister in a span of 5 days will attend about 45 to 50 bilateral meetings. In addition to this, he will also hold multilateral meetings, and one to one meetings, arranged by the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board. 

Upon his arrival to Zurich on the 16th, the Chief Minister will hold one to one sessions with Swiss best investors which will be followed by a lunch session with the Telugu Diaspora.

Later in the afternoon, the Chief Minister will travel to Davos and participate in the South Asia Community reception.

On the 17th at 8 am ( Local time) the Chief Minister will hold bilateral meetings with Mr. Hiroyuki Ishige, Chairman Jetro, Ms. Kim Stratton, from Shire International and Mr. Nicolas Dirks, Chancellor, University of California, Berkeley.  

Later in the evening, he will participate in the Time India Awards and will hold meetings with CPP Investment Board and The Global Fund group.

On the 18th afternoon, the Chief Minister will participate in the CII CEO roundtable, and also hold a bilateral meeting with Mr. Beh Swan Gin, Chairman, Singapore EDB. He would also interact with leading global financing and healthcare companies.

On the 19th and 20th, the Chief Minister will hold meetings with CEO’s and Chairman’s of leading companies.

The details of the sessions in which the Chief Minister will participate are as follows:

1. Key speaker at the sessions titled ‘Preparing for the City Century’ on the 17th.

2.  Will represent India in the boardroom discussion titled ‘India and South Asia Regional Strategy Group Meeting’. This session is very important as it is attended by World leaders.

3.  On the 18th, he would speak at the Boston Consulting Group breakfast session titled ‘India and Emerging Markets in the New Phase of Globalization’.

4.  In the afternoon of 18th, he would speak in the session ‘The Vision for Agriculture: Building and Strengthening Multistakeholders Partnerships. 

5.  On the 19th he will participate in the session “Technology Pioneers’.

6.  And on the 20th, the Chief Minister will participate in the session titled ‘Country –Led Action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. 

The key focus sectors for this visit include global fund, financing, IT, infrastructure, manufacturing, smart cities and solar. The Chief Minister would interact with investors of these sectors and explain to them about the opportunities available and also about the government procedures.

General Electric, JETRO, Medtronic, Lockheed Martin Corporation, CISCO, New Development Bank, Wageningen University & Research are some of the companies the Chief Minister will hold bilateral meetings with.

The Chief Minister and the delegation will reach New Delhi at 12.40 PM on the 21st of January.

The State delegation includes, Sri Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Minister for Finance &   Planning, Commercial Taxes, Legislative Affairs, Sri Parakala Prabhakar, Advisor (Communications) Sri G. Sai Prasad, Principal  Secretary to CM, Sri Ajay Jain, Principal Secretary to Government, I&I & Energy, Sri Solomon Arokia Raj, Secretary, Industries, Sri Jasthi  Krishna Kishore, CEO, AP EDB and Sri Karthikeya Misra, Director of Industries.
