Day 2 of Chief Minister’s US Visit
Chief Minister Shri. N. Chandrababu Naidu, on day two of his week-long visit to the United States of America, visited Google’s X facility that developed Google’s driverless cars and Google’s glasses projects besides using balloons for spreading internet.
The Chief Minister, who took a tour of the campus was given a presentation by Mr. Astro Teller, CEO of Google X, about the ongoing research and development works at the facility during which a demo of the amazing driverless car and use of drones to deliver various products to homes was shown to the Chief Minister and the delegation.
While applauding Google for its pioneering research, the Chief Minister said that Andhra Pradesh is embracing technology and innovation and that it wants to have collaboration with Google to further its mission. The Chief Minister said that Andhra Pradesh could be the potential ground for experimenting and launching the innovations carried on by Google X.
In this regard he said, “Your experiments such as using of stratosphere balloons to give access to Internet to inaccessible areas is one example out of many that can be experimented in our State”.
That Google X has agreed to collaborate with the Government of Andhra Pradesh and work towards internet penetration to enhance connectivity all over the State is a milestone moment.
Before this visit to Google X, the Chief Minister held his first meeting with Mr. H. Russell Drinker, Global Director of
M Moser, which is an architectural firm. The company has expressed interest to involve itself in the construction of Amaravati. They have displayed their works and projects taken up by them to the Chief Minister during the meeting.
The Chief Minister also met Mr. Sridhar Vembu, CEO of ZOHO, a billion dollar technology company which provides SAAS services. The CEO said that they are interested to select small towns in Southern AP for their IT operations.
The Chief Minister met Ms. Padmasree Warrior. She is the CEO of U.S for NIO, an electric vehicle company.
Later, the Chief Minister left for Los Angeles to met Mr. Elon Reeve Musk, Founder and CEO of Tesla Motors.
The Chief Minister also met Mr. Jeff Williams who is Apple Inc.’s Chief Operating Officer. He invited them to open a manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh.
